Death march: Van - Kelowna
Old 06-05-2009, 01:58 PM   #1

Discussed at Foundation over beers just before Camilo departed, it was decided this needed to be done (again for one). The march is 391km in one day, the route is Coquihalla Hwy, the bikes are geared. I propose the end of August for this mission - not too hot, still lots of light, still time to get some long rides in.

Takers?

Paceline from last year Hope ride:

I'm in if the dates work out. Sunday preferred to Saturday.

Rental car. If there's 5 or six of us, that will be cheap.

Undecided as of yet. Though the bug is in my ear.

Thanks for the link Camilo.

I do not question the pain that this will inflict on my "early 70's child" body. Admittedly, I usually average about 70-80k on a average ride, maybe upwards of 100k on a good day. This would certainly far exceed those distances.

I got a couple of months to tune up the old body, I figure. I'm willing to give it my best shot.

Just in case, I'll bring a styrofoam headstone engraved with some witty epitaph you guys can leave on the side of the road if I don't make it. It is called DEATH MARCH after all. Let the suffering/training begin.
