I have seen exactly one cyclist riding a road bike. The rest (and it's only the poor that ride here and very few of them at that) are on variations of k-mart specials and flying pigeons. Traffic is insane and the air is filthy. I do a silent mental facepalm every time I read some thread complaining about Vancouver traffic now.

Still waiting for my touring rigs to show up, they're being shipped by sea. Two mountain bikes plus some panniers and stuff bought at the last minute. No idea if I will actually be able to do bike touring at least in this area... a couple weeks ago did a 7 hour drive/camp in the desert, 300 km with no h20 and 40 degrees makes it a dubious proposition but we'll see.

Here is a pic of another local species ... nice sturdy rack on front, and check the footbrake. These are all over. The other neat thing to see is dudes biking with 6 foot long trays of bread held over their heads. Don't know how they do that.

My latest professional project is a series of scoreboards to display bike activity, similar to the one from Copenhagen pictured. Its in the proposal writing stage, and I need to somehow make my design fancy enough to wave my dick at Copenhagen. I've already suggested using bike parts to produce an electromechanical counter instead of a digital display, but my boss wasn't down for that and would rather have the improvement be providing more information. Other than displaying the speed of passing cyclists and showing counts of cyclists per day, month, year, I have no ideas. Any suggestions?
